NFL 2025 season: Week six
Real-time updates includes text commentary for Sunday's games on various channels, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, audio coverage can be heard on designated networks for a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).
We're in the sixth week in the NFL season , after recent talk regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being possible championship contenders, they both surrendered their perfect starts.
Notable in those games was the amount of penalties each conceded. The Eagles committed them in key moments so they essentially beat themselves having led 17-3 entering the final quarter against Denver, who play overseas this weekend.
However it was good to observe that Denver quarterback Bo Nix was able to have the shortfall before lead three scoring drives in three attempts in the fourth quarter, to win the victory by four points.
The Broncos boast the defensive player of the year in cornerback their star corner. They are number one in red zone defence, whereas the Eagles lead the league in red zone offence, yet Denver won that battle.
They executed effective strategies in terms of disguised blitzes. They did not always rushing more than four defenders instead they might plug two LBs in the interior before withdrawing them and send a nickel from the outside.
At the start in the campaign, we said on a program that Denver could be this season's dark horses. They finished last season well and did a good job of building upon that.
Could Denver be this year's dark horses?
Recently acquired tight end their tight end has excelled significantly while recent RB JK Dobbins is a player they believe in. He's currently 5th league-wide in ground gains (over 400) and tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).
It's impressive that head coach Sean Payton has "RUN IT!" at the top of his playcall sheet.
This demonstrates that Denver represent a squad that wants to prioritize the run, because one can do a lot based on that approach. It slows opposing rushes while maintains in favourable situations.
It's also helped QB Bo Nix, who entered into the league as a first-round selection in the prior draft, throwing 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 in 2020).
Other elite QBs have powerful arms to pass anywhere, however they lack in the same way as Nix. He boasts incredible arm talent, a unique trait, and he is so athletic.
His strengths include his movement, being able to throw on the run, as well as finding different arm angles to deliver the pass as he moves outside protection, the bootlegs. He can throw that layered pass over the middle or over the corner.
For a young quarterback, at 25, he's got a lot of composure in the pocket and isn't really fazed by extra rushers. He aims to avoid being tackled as much as possible and can pass under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and remains very decisive.
When you consistently rush it consumes the clock and makes the opponent to be in play for longer, and when you've got a mobile QB the defence must cover the area downfield side to side. This proves draining.
Nix has pushed back at Payton during games sometimes and I think Payton likes that attitude, seeing him as a fierce rival. In my view it's fun for the coach to coach a young quarterback who's similar to play-dough. He can really develop him how he desires to build it. I think it's a unique opportunity for him.
Payton has won a Super Bowl and has passed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed everything. In my opinion the achievements the Broncos are having offensively is mostly due to his leadership, his play-calling, his game sense – and the pairing with Nix aids shape him into who he is.
There's no better a better guy in your ear, to assist you during difficult moments and build confidence.
I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet are they strong enough to face a top squad at full strength? Since that wasn't championship-level play from Philadelphia in their last game.
Currently, it's unlikely the Broncos are incredible. They're performing better than most, which is a solid position to be in their division. The key to do to continue this trajectory.
They're really good at leaning into their forte, that is the ground game, and that's precisely what they should do versus the Jets in London. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.
The Jets have surrendered 140 rushing yards each contest (among the worst), five ground scores so far (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team without a win a game.
Ever since the NFL started recording turnovers decades ago, this team are also the first team to be without any turnovers through five games, which is kind of shocking considering that the head coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.
The Chiefs' QB says the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' after Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.
Following this Sunday's game, the Broncos have a manageable slate until their break (in week twelve) - the Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Raiders before the Chiefs.
Looking at their division, Kansas City hold a losing record while Denver are tied with the Chargers at 3-2 so they could make a run for the top of the West.
This hinges upon which form of the Chiefs they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
