Outrage as Renowned South African DJ Gunned Down in Johannesburg.
A popular South African radio and club DJ has been shot dead in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country grappling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the 40-year-old presenter was accosted by three individuals, with one shot at him before escaping on foot.
The reason behind the incident is unknown and no arrests have taken place, as per the official statement.
The Fatal Incident
Police revealed that Stock was ambushed as he was exiting a premises near the city center landmark.
He had been present for hours at the site supervising the implementation of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by squatters, it was reported.
"The report indicates the deceased was confronted by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before running from the location on foot," authorities confirmed.
CCTV footage reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocked hair and wearing what looked like a guard's attire firing shots on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but fell down across the street.
It was further revealed that Stock had an weapon on his person and nothing was taken during the incident.
Important clues, like cartridges, were found at the crime scene.

Authorities have requested eyewitnesses who may have seen the suspects to come forward.
"Evidence suggests they covered significant ground after the shooting, and police have been tracking them to determine their destination," remarked an authority figure.

His family member, Nicole Stock, stated the family was struggling to understand the tragedy.
"Words fail me. I cannot express the pain," she stated.
"Everyone understood he was a representative for countless citizens. He was a fearless commentator about subjects not many people were ready to speak about. This is a devastating blow."
She requested the public to refrain from sharing disturbing footage from the scene, noting this was an incredibly difficult time, above all for Stock's young family.

Stock was the presenter of Ngicel' iVisa, a television program that was broadcast on a South African digital satellite entertainment channel.
In addition to his media career, Stock was involved in various entrepreneurial pursuits, including protective services, providing VIP protection services and protecting major functions across South Africa.
He was also reportedly involved in property management and participated in tenant removals.

A government minister commented he was outraged and heartbroken by Stock's murder.

In a communication, the network he worked for said Stock was known for his presence, kindness and sharp wit, adding that his memory "will be remembered".
