The rugby star earned 20 test matches for the All Blacks before changing allegiance to the Samoan team.

Australian rugby league's governing body has declared that players who sign with the “counterfeit” R360 competition will be barred for 10 years.

R360, which plans to launch in late 2026, is hoping to draw players from union and league with hefty contracts and a slimmed-down game calendar.

Leading National Rugby League players have allegedly been contacted by R360, which will involve multiple men's teams and four women's teams operating from large metropolitan areas around the world.

Representing Samoa the rugby star, who plays for the Warriors in the league, has said he has had discussions with the new organization.

Papenhuyzen, Lomax, Payne Haas and Gray are also reported to be thinking about signing R360.

A group of union teams, including Australia, recently announced a prohibition on R360 recruits appearing in test matches.

“We heard our teams and we've taken firm action,” stated ARLC chairman V'Landys.

“Sadly, there will continually be groups that try to exploit our code for economic benefit.

“They fail to contribute in pathways or the advancement of athletes. They simply exploit the hard work of others, putting players at risk of financial loss while benefiting financially.

“In truth, they represent, imitating the sport.”

The league is established by former England World Cup winner Tindall and supported by commercial backers.

After the potential union sanctions were announced earlier, it stated: “We aim to collaborate together as part of the international rugby schedule.

“The series is arranged with bespoke schedules for men's and women's teams and we will release all players for global fixtures, as specified in their agreements.”

R360 will seek approval for its initiatives from the international authority, union's administrative organization, at its official gathering next year.
