First-choice Lineup

The goalkeeper Was rarely tested required before the break before forced to intervene by an opponent's curled attempt. His sliding intervention on an Albanian attacker highlighted excellent reading of the game. 6/10

Nico O’Reilly Another assured display from the rising star following his first cap versus another side. Saka was unable to take the opportunity from a clever touch over their defense. The role is firmly his so soon. 7

Adam Wharton A debut start for his country. Somewhat careless on the ball but his whipped set-pieces caused problems. A handy tempo-setter for the coach to have versus teams who drop deep. Cautioned for a poorly timed tackle. Six

Declan Rice Set-pieces on corner kicks and free kicks were dangerous. Enjoyed room to drift on the left yet found himself in an offside position when the ball arrived in shooting positions. Given a well-earned substitution around the 60-minute point. 6

The star midfielder Played in a forward position down the right and also contributed with dirty work. Showed glimpses of brilliance but dragged an attempt over. Withdrawn in the closing stages by Rogers, a fellow player, after being booked. 7

Jarrod Bowen Had England’s top opening before halftime, his effort well saved by Thomas Strakosha. With Quansah holding position, he had to stretch the play on the right but his crosses into the box were hit and miss. Replaced late in the match. Six

The captain The match-winner scoring 77th and 78th finishes in an England shirt. His first a trademark close-range tap-in and his next a superb headed goal having drifted away away from the opposition. Now 32, he’s only getting better with the national team stand a real opportunity in future competitions with him leading the line. 8

The attacker Had difficulty to influence play out wide. Was presented with a good opening following a pass from a teammate but Strakosha made the save. His replacement produced a bigger effect when substituted. 5/10
