The Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Matchup With Los Angeles Dodgers

The Toronto Blue Jays reached their maiden championship series after 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the final game seven of the AL Championship Series.
Down three runs to one, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run blast in the seventh frame, propelling the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series win in the series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, holders of the defending champions, in the anticipated championship.
"It's incredible for our team, our city, Canada," commented Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "This is such an unbelievable moment."
Springer has now connected for 23 post-season home runs, making him third all-time trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine another person anywhere that I want up in that moment besides him with his post-season brilliance," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
The Mariners, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the sole team never to appear in a World Series.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "certainly that it hurts" following his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their performance throughout the year.
"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we ended up on the wrong side of the series," he added.
Toronto won the championship on their two prior appearances in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Dodgers in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
