The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic Tabletop Role-Playing Game
The intense world of Tom Clancy’s The Division is being adapted into a dice-based role-playing experience. A partnership was established to create a TTRPG set within the franchise’s post-pandemic landscape. The project has been announced, with a funding drive planned to begin in April of 2026.
"This project will bring the series' unique suspense, tactical intensity, and iconic world-building to the tabletop, providing fans a fresh avenue to experience The Division through immersive storytelling and mission-based gameplay," states an announcement.
Launch products will include a starter set, core rulebooks, a Game Master screen, miniatures, and several deluxe editions.
Exploring The Division's Dystopian World
In this universe, a lethal pathogen called Green Poison was released in NYC, plunging the nation into turmoil. As the crisis worsens, society crumbles and violent factions rise, transforming the urban landscape into a warzone. To restore law and order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. That’s where the players enter the story.
Work on the RPG has been in progress for approximately several years, and it is confirmed to be finished. The forthcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a preorder system to reach a broader market, specifically in North America. Manufacturing is slated to begin right after the fundraiser, with deliveries expected for the latter part of 2026.
A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System
A preview at the system confirms it uses 10-sided dice exclusively through its proprietary GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and strategic approach. Agents use abilities to roll a handful of dice, usually between one and five d10s.
- Rather than adding results together, participants choose a single “resolution die” from the pool.
- This dice is then measured against a set challenge number.
- Achieving a perfect 10 grants special effects, such as increased harm or boosted support.
Engagements Focus On Positioning and Situational Insight
Battles prioritize positioning and situational awareness, mirroring the source material. Factors like taking cover, height advantage, or visibility directly influence dice rolls. This system seems built to reward teamwork and smart positioning instead of simple statistics.
A Thematic Health System
The way health is managed adds a compelling thematic twist. Operatives have a injury limit; taking heavy hits reduces their capabilities by decreasing the size of their dice pool.
- At zero health, an agent collapses, but is not knocked out.
- They can still crawl and take limited actions, emulating the last stand seen in video game shooters.
- Any agent in this state must consult a injury chart, risking lingering conditions like shock or crippling injuries.
A Ready-to-Play Adventure
A free Quickstart Guide will be released soon. It contains a ready-to-play starting adventure titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players lead the search for a missing medical team and must thwart an attack by the notorious Rikers gang, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the complete product lineup will be detailed closer to the campaign launch.
